Everyone knows that I don’t shoot very many new faces, but sometimes I take the opportunity.
Meet Lacey. Lacey moved here to LA from Dallas wanted to give modeling a try. A mutual friend, Jeff, had contacted me and we set up a meeting where we could discuss looks for the shoots. When I have these meetings with models I pull out magazines to look for inspiration. I knew that she wanted to do a sunset look but since Lacey doesn’t have a lot of experience I didn’t want to start with that look. We found some dope looks to do in studio, including a black and white look to accentuate her toned body. Photoshoot day came, I was ready to work and she was excited. When I shoot an model that doesn’t have a lot of experience, my main goal is to make her feel as comfortable as possible in the photoshoot setting. That is advice that I would give to all amateur photographers and models because when the subject is uncomfortable it translates to the photos.
By the time we got to this look during sunset Lacey was a pro, taking direction well and really comfortable.
