This is our 5th “Steeze” set. I love these sets because they are different. Range is important for me to show because I don’t want to be a photographer that can only shoot one way. Tianna is super versatile and and I believe she is one of the few that can shoot anything that she puts her mind to. Here are 6 looks that we shot in one day and it didn’t just take an hour, this took all day. We drove to different places to get these looks. But T, still makes it seem so effortless. Enjoy!!!
You can stop reading here, I’m just ranting after this line.
Something that not a lot of people know is that I use to be a photographer to a fashion blogger that ran a business out of a Downtown LA office. At that office, I was the only man that worked with 4 women on a daily bases. I learned a lot about women. I saw there, the capabilities of web and social promotion. My boss was making a living off of her website and the traffic that she was getting to that site. She was also selling out of items that she wore because she wore them well and people wanted those pieces or accessories.
3-4 years later, because of what I have learned from the people that I worked with, I am able to make a living from promotion. Now I’m not making a lot of money, I don’t drive a really nice car, nor am I living the life that I want to just yet. And I’ll say that again, “NOT JUST YET!” but I will one day.
What others saw in me that I didn’t see in myself was that I was and always have been a content creator and curator. I thought I was a graphic designer and photographer. Same difference.
I use to get together with T and shoot all day and it would most of the time be just for fun. We were creating content for fun. The last couple times that we shot I would put so much pressure on myself. She was someone that shot the most and every time, I wanted to raise the bar, even if we were just having fun. The good of what came out of us shooting together so often was that we got to show our range and got to experiment with so many different looks. I still have some looks that I haven’t released yet and they are some that might be considered my best work to date. Because of the platform that T has, she was able to share the work that we did with millions of people and that was awesome even if sometimes I didn’t get paid to.
I mentioned that my old boss was getting paid from the traffic on her website. I have tried to make money from this website, but I have been marked by google as “mature.” Since I am flagged, I can’t advertise with Google. So I’m getting no money from ads. Then I thought, I’m gonna charge people a subscription to my site to see my work, but that’s kinda like selling out. As a photographer that shoots mainly women the way that I do, I know that a lot of brands are afraid to work with me. I am taboo to a lot of brands. I have been able to get on some big brands radar, like Canon, but I still have so far to go. I wish that making money was as easy for me as it is for some of the girls that I work with. My following doesn’t mean shit to corporate America. On the other hand what is worth more is the content that I produce.
Social Media is a job now.
How do you become good at that job?…
All you have to do is stay consistent and keep the fire lit.
I have concentrated so much on other people’s fires and I have added fuel to those flames. I’m not saying I have ignited those flames but I have definitely helped grow and kept them lit. Now I think I’m just gonna switch lanes a little and concentrate a little bit more on my flame, and I have been as of late with the podcast and shooting other stuff. I want people to know me as the curator and a creative and not just as a donkey to be worked. Respect is really what I want. So I am excited to see what is to come with my new relationship with Canon, with other new companies I have met with, and new models that I plan to work with. I am gonna work my ass off for me and for the people that respect me and less for the people that don’t.
